TripleShot Transducer
The Tripleshot transducer is compatible with Lowrance Hook Reveal 7 and 9. It is a good choice for freshwater anglers looking for wide-angle high CHIRP sonar (200kHz) along with DownScan and SideScan imaging.
The DownScan sonar in Hook Reveal operates at 800 kHz or 455 kHz frequency. 455 kHz frequency provides the maximum depth penetration at 300 ft. The 800 kHz frequency provides the highest resolution images with better target separation in shallow water.
455/800 KHz frequencies are supported in SideScan imaging. 800 kHz provides the clarity and sharpest images in shallow water. It can scan an area of 150 ft on either side of the boat. While 455 kHz is more suitable for deeper waters. It can scan an area of 300 ft on either side of the boat.
Hook Reveal TripleShot is an easy-to-use Lowrance fish finder. The rich color pallets can help you distinguish fish from the bottom and the vegetation. You can quickly identify fish-holding structures like rock piles, standing timber, weed beds, ditches, and drop-offs. You can comfortably find more fish and identify different species like bass, catfish, crappies, etc. under your boat.
One downside of TripleShot is that the transducer is a little too big for kayaks. It can fit easily in fishing boats like Bass boats and other small boats. But for Kayak, it’s best to use a side-arm mounting option for TripleShot.
TripleShot can work perfectly in freshwater and shallow lakes. But it will not work for deep coastal or saltwater fishing because of the limited sonar frequency. The minimum sonar frequency offered is 200KHz which can scan up to 500 feet in water with clarity.
SplitShot Transducer
The SplitShot transducer is compatible with Lowrance Hook Reveal 5 and 7. It features wide-angle high CHIRP sonar (200kHz) and high-frequency DownScan imaging (455/800kHz). At this frequency range, you can see picture-like images of what’s underneath your boat. The fish holding structures like weeds, trees, brush piles, etc are clearly distinguishable from the bottom.
Splitshot transducer can scan the water to the depth of 300ft at 455KHz and up to 100ft at 800KHz. The 800KHz frequency range is best suited for shallow water bodies and provides better quality and high resolution sonar images of the bottom. You can target different fish species like Bass and crappies with the Hook Reveal SplitShot fish finder.
The 455 kHz is better suited for deep water up to 300 feet, and although the results are not similar to the 800KHz frequency, it’s still good enough to see bottom hardness and its variation along with structures under the boat.
SplitShot transducer can be easily mounted on the transom of the boat. There is also an option to mount it on the trolling motor.
There is good news for Kayak anglers. It can be glued to the kayak’s hull and produce excellent results. The sonar image quality is not affected when the sounder shoots through the Kayak. You can use a Lowrance kayak scupper mount for mounting the transducer on Kayak. We have rated it as the best budget kayak fish finder.
C-MAP Contour+ Maps
C-MAP Contour+ maps features high resolution, bathymetric 1-foot contours on 15,000+ U.S. Lakes and 9,400+ lakes in Canada. Lowrance offers a vast coverage of U.S lakes and famous fishing locations in U.S through C-Map. The Contour+ map offers a variety of features to help with navigation, including full featured vector charts, high-res bathymetry, and custom depth shading. Additionally, it provides tide and current projections to help with day-to-day planning.

US InLand Maps with Genesis Live
You can also buy Hook Reveal fish finder with Lowrance basemaps, which is cheaper than C-Map Contour+. Basemaps comes preloaded with detailed maps of almost 4,000 US lakes.
You can also create custom contour maps with Genesis Live, giving you even more precision over your local waterways. Genesis Live includes an advanced mapping tool that lets you create custom 1/2-foot contour maps of your local lake or unchartered water in real time.
Genesis Live is somewhat different from traditional maps in that it allows you to make your own high-detail contour maps and then overlay them on top of your existing mapping display.

Display
Hook Reveal fish finders feature an 800 x 480 px 7″ display screen with SolarMAX capability. SolarMax offers excellent clarity and daylight visibility, even under bright sunshine.
Hook Reveal also features the split screen option to enhance the fishing experience. With up to 4 split screens, you can view different aspects of your surroundings simultaneously. This is especially beneficial when fishing, as you can have a map, DownScan, and traditional sonar chart all on screen at once. Additionally, you can customize the size of these splits to ensure that the panels you find most important are always visible.
The Lowrance Hook Reveal has a simple menu layout and dedicated keypad. The keypad is intuitively designed with icons explaining each key’s function. There are dedicated keys for navigation, exit, select, zoom in and out, and for setting waypoints. It’s easier to get used to its keypad after only a few minutes of usage.

FishReveal
The fish reveal feature is handy for beginners who have difficulty reading the fish finder. Fish Reveal is a trademark of Lowrance, and it makes fish appear as arches on the fish finder screen. Other fish finders like Garmin and Humminbird display fish as dots in the down imaging sonar. But the proprietary technology of Lowrance identifies the fish and displays it as an arch. The benefit is that you can easily identify predatory fish near the baits or structures at the bottom like trees, debris, weeds, etc.

Additional Features
Autotuning Sonar
The autotuning sonar on Hook Reveal automatically adjusts settings as fishing conditions change. Sonar can be set to “Auto” or custom settings of your choice. This can save a considerable amount of time and hassle when starting a new fishing location.

Built-in GPS
You can add, delete and edit the waypoints on Lowrance Hook Reveal maps. It can store up to 3000 waypoints and 100 routes, each containing 99 turns or stops.
